2018 Midwest Kubb Championship


This year the Midwest Kubb Championship replaces the Ohio Kubb Championship, the largest kubb event in Ohio. The event is designed to be fun for all skill levels and no knowledge of the game is required before the event. All net Proceeds support Girls on the Run of East Central Ohio.

 

 

 

 

 

Date: June 23rd, 2018

Location: Martindale/Middlebranch Park – Canton, Ohio (4053 Martindale Rd NE, Canton, OH 44702)

 

 

The tournament will take place on Saturday, June 23rd, 2018, at Martindale/Middlebranch Park. Registration/Check-in begins at 8:00AM.

There will be two tournaments; a Competitive Tournament that starts at 9:00AM and a Recreational Tournament that will start at 11:00AM.

 

Competitive Tournament

Cost: $40 per team for the Competitive Tournament
Teams: Minimum 3 players, Maximum 6
Format: 7 round “Klassic Format” with triple elimination championship.

We will be using the U.S. National Kubb Championship® Rules V3.2. with the exception of the “Neighbor Rule” which can be found at Kubb On

For the Competitive Tournament there will be 7 qualifying rounds of single games each having a 25 minute time limit using the “Klassic Format”. After that all teams will be seeded in the championship bracket.

 

Competitive Tournament Schedule:

7:00 – 8:40 – Practice, Learn to Play
8:00 – 8:40 – Registration/Check-In
8:40 – Team Captain Meeting
9:00 – 1st qualifying round begins
9:30 – 2nd qualifying round begins
10:00 – 3rd qualifying round begins
10:30 – 4th qualifying round begins
11:00 – 5th qualifying round begins
11:30 – 6th qualifying round begins
12:00 – Lunch Break and Golden Baton Challenge
1:00 – 7th qualifying round begins
1:30 – Championship bracket play begins

 

Competitive Bracket – Triple elimination single game matches with no time limit

 

Recreational Tournament

Cost: $20 per team and $10 for an individual. If you register as an Individual, you will be randomly paired with another player or team.
Teams: Minimum 2 players, Maximum 6
Format: Round Robin groups with single or double elimination tournament.

We will be using the U.S. National Kubb Championship® Rules V3.2. with the exception of  two rules:
1. Minimum 2 players, no player may throw more than 3 batons per round
2. The “Neighbor Rule” which can be found at Kubb On

The Recreational Tournament will randomly divide teams into Round Robin Groups of 3 or 4 and then seed them into a Single or Double Elimination Tournament

 

Recreational Tournament Schedule:

7:00 – 10:40 – Practice, Learn to Play
8:00 – 10:40 – Registration/Check-In
10:40 – Team Captain Meeting
11:00 – 1st round begins for Round Robin
11:30 – 2nd round begins for Round Robin
12:00 – Lunch Break and Golden Baton Challenge
1:00 – 3rd round begins for Round Robin
1:30 – Tournament play begins

 

Recreational Bracket – 1 game matches with 30 minute time limits except for Finals which will have no time limit.
